Commentary
Then he caused to arise from his being a clarification of knowledge that the description of the glad tidings is intended even if it is concealed. So He, glorified and exalted is He, indicated it by His saying, in preference to the people of glad tidings and warnings: "So those who believed" meaning they acknowledged faith, "and did righteous deeds" meaning in confirmation of their claims, "for them is forgiveness" for what they have fallen short in, due to the fact that no one can truly estimate Allah as He deserves to be estimated.
And when this was the first permission for fighting, which necessitates the severing of ties with the disbelievers, and the migration of family, wealth, and homes, and that was - despite being in extreme hardship - typically necessitating poverty, he stated affirming it and warning that it is a cause of provision: "And provision" meaning in this world through spoils and others, and in the Hereafter by what no eye has seen, nor ear has heard, nor has it occurred to the heart of any human. "Noble" meaning there is no disgrace in it nor baseness by being cut off or otherwise at all as long as they are characterized by that. This is the action of their Lord towards them, the opposite of what has been described regarding the one called upon by the disbelievers, that his harm is closer than his benefit.
