Commentary
And when He described Himself, glorified and exalted is He, with what necessitates the empowerment of His supporter whom He supports, He described them with what clarifies that their fighting against Him is not for themselves. After He described them as having been harmed by being expelled from their homes, which is equivalent to killing, He said: ﴿Those﴾. And when the time of support is ambiguous, its end being the Day of Judgment, He expressed it with a tool of doubt so that this would be more indicative of the sincerity of the sincere in fighting: ﴿If We empower them﴾ with what We have of greatness ﴿in the earth﴾ by elevating them over their opponents. ﴿They establish prayer﴾, meaning that which is the pillar of religion, indicating vigilance and turning away from acquiring the transient. ﴿And they give zakah﴾, indicating detachment from what is gained from it, signaling the action of the soul for departure. ﴿And they enjoin what is right﴾, which is what the Shari'ah has defined and permitted. ﴿And they forbid what is wrong﴾, defined by the fact that there is no comfort for them except in Him, glorified and exalted is He, and there is no fear for them except from Him, and there is no hope in it. And the verse indicates the correctness of the caliphate of the four imams.
And when this was the beginning of the matter of jihad, and it was after what His enemies had harmed His allies, and their harm to them was prolonged, the estimation was as the conjunction indicated, referring to what was not mentioned, in conjunction with ﴿And if it were not for the repelling﴾ [Al-Hajj: 40]. So to Allah belongs the initiation of matters. He connected to it His saying: ﴿And to Allah﴾, meaning the Most High King, encompassing all things, ﴿is the outcome of all matters﴾. So empowering them is inevitable, but His mention of the outcome and His wrapping of the initiation serves as a reminder that He, glorified and exalted is He, gives the devil - as is commonly observed - a share in the initiation, so that the truthful may be distinguished from the liar, and the shaken from the stable. As for the outcome, it is solely for Him until the end of that is the Day of Resurrection, in which no one has any authority, such that no one speaks except by a special permission. And when there is in the encouragement of these verses and their warning that which attracts the wise and overwhelms the ignorant, the ruling of the wise is concealed for his understanding of what has preceded, which is: If they believe in you, We will empower them in the earth. And it is indicated by the conjunction of the ruling of the ignorant to what was not mentioned in a context that comforts His Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, and gives him solace, and reassures him, and supports him, He said.
