Then he clarified their signs and said: "Those who, when Allah is mentioned," meaning the One who has majesty and beauty, "their hearts tremble." This means they fear with a disturbing fear.

And since it was in the mention of Hajj, and that is a place where there is a likelihood of much mixing that leads to many disturbances, especially since most of the mixers were polytheists, because the surah is Meccan, he said, adding without following, signaling a firm establishment in the attributes: "and the patient," those for whom patience has become their habit, "upon what has afflicted them," whatever it may be.

And since that could distract from prayer, he said: "and those who establish prayer," meaning even if they encounter difficulties from the actions of Hajj and others that may arise, and for this reason he expressed it with the description rather than the action, indicating that no one establishes it in the proper manner along with those difficulties and distractions except those firmly rooted in their love for it. They, due to the love that has taken root in their hearts and the fear of being heedless of it, are as if they are always in prayer.

And since what may occur in it from increased spending could perhaps prevent them from it, he encouraged it by saying: "and from what We have provided them," for they, because it is a blessing from Us, do not withhold from it. And due to Our greatness, they have good expectations of the future. "They spend," meaning they renew their giving continuously, with gifts for which they pay high prices and others, as kindness to the creation of Allah, in obedience to His command, like the humble one who gives what He, the Exalted, has deposited in him of water and pasture.
