Commentary
So His saying: ﴿For you in it﴾ means: the sacrificial animals or the gifted livestock or, in general, ﴿benefits﴾ by way of milk, offspring, and labor, and so on. Whenever it is fatter and better, its benefits are more in both religion and this world ﴿for a specified term﴾, which is death that We have decreed upon every soul, or the slaughter if it is a gift, or otherwise. This is an explanation for the statement that preceded it. For indeed, the benefits carry those of insight to reflect upon them, especially with their differences. Reflecting upon them leads to piety by knowing that they are from Allah and that He is capable of what He wills. And that He has no partner.
And since these benefits are worldly, and the benefit of slaughtering them when they are gifted is religious, He indicated the greatness of the latter with a tool of delay, saying: ﴿Then its place﴾, meaning the time of the slaughtering of them is when you reach ﴿the ancient house﴾, meaning its courtyard, which is the sacred area, as He, glorified and exalted is He, said: ﴿A sacrificial offering reaching the Ka'bah﴾ [Al-Ma'idah: 95].
