And when the following conjunction made it clear that people are of two kinds, and that the meaning is: 'Indeed, among you is he who believes, so he fears [Allah] and is saved from the evil of that day which wisdom necessitated the manifestation of greatness in it, so that the party of Allah may increase in joy, and the party of Satan in grief and sorrow,' it followed with His saying: 'And among the people,' meaning the wavering ones, the confused ones, 'is he who does not strive to elevate himself and purify it, so he denies and is ruined by his evil deeds. This is because he 'argues about Allah,' meaning about the ability of the Greatest King on that day and in other matters after knowledge of them has come to him, acting arrogantly against His great authority 'without knowledge,' but rather with falsehood, which is pure ignorance. So he leaves following the righteous guides and follows, with all his effort in his argument, 'every devil,' meaning one who is consumed by evil and distanced by curse.
And since the context is to condemn his follower, it indicated that he has no intention in following him except for evil, as there is no ambiguity in his matter with the form of exaggeration as has been mentioned in the women and will come in the ranks. So He said: 'A willing one,' meaning one who is devoted to corruption, having no concern other than it. He is in the utmost ferocity against him. Al-Baydawi said: 'Its origin is the ties.'
