Commentary

That is, the great punishment, because of what your hands have sent forth, meaning by your deeds. However, it has become customary among the Arabs to attribute deeds to the hand because it is the tool of most actions. And attributing what leads to them is more effective. And that is, and because Allah, the One who has all perfection, is not one who does injustice to the servants. If He had left you without that, it would have been, in the course of your customs, an injustice, firstly by equating the good-doer with the wrongdoer, and secondly by not taking vengeance for those who opposed you in it and harmed them for it. It is permissible that the wording is for exaggeration to make you understand that if He had left it, injustice would have occurred, and that is far from His wisdom and... He negated the essence of injustice from His wondrous signs.
