And when the matter of Yunus, peace be upon him, was that he emerged from a belly from which it was not known to emerge, he related to him the story of Zakariya, peace be upon him, in his granting him a son from a womb from which it was not known [the pregnancy from] like it in barrenness and despair, looking to his father Ibrahim, peace be upon him, the first one who mentioned his decree in the singular elements in what occurred to him of such in his son Ishaq, peace be upon him, reiterating the signs of the resurrection and affirming the complete power. So he said: "And Zakariya," meaning remember him, "when he called upon his Lord" with the calling of a beloved close one. He said: "My Lord," omitting the tool of distance, "do not leave me alone" [meaning] without a son who will inherit what You have given me of wisdom.

And when it is from the heirs that there are those who love those who block them from inheritance or share with them in it, and among them are those who do not love that and strive to destroy those who block them - or diminish them, and among them are those who take the inheritance and spend it in vile expenditures according to what their desire and need call them to, and among them are those who take it with integrity, executing the bequests of the deceased, maintaining ties with their relatives and those they love, and giving charity on their behalf, and hastening to all that he used to love and that benefits him, all of that for the richness of his soul and the generosity of his nature while being created with need and deficiency. And Allah is the Rich, the Praiseworthy, the Wise, the Glorious. He said, hinting at his intention in the style of incitement and provocation: "And You" [meaning while You are] "the best of inheritors" because You have made them rich from inheritance and the best of them in conduct. And often do You grant the inheritance of some of Your servants to other servants. So You are truly deserving to act in my inheritance of knowledge and wisdom as I love, so grant me a son upon whom You bestow that.
