Commentary
And when their return to misguidance after this correct and clear acknowledgment is extremely distant, he expressed this with his tool, indicating that he said: "Then they were turned upside down," meaning they immediately reverted without being able to deny what is required of them in acknowledging their folly, until it was as if a mold had turned them, and they could not resist it. "Upon their heads," so their upper parts became their lower parts by their returning from the truth to falsehood. This is from their saying: "The sick person was turned upside down" - if he returned to his original state, saying in their argument about their partners: "Surely you know, O Ibrahim! What are these?" Neither their sound nor their wounded can speak. So they were, by what they uttered, thinking that it would benefit them, enabling Ibrahim, blessings and peace be upon him, from the great battles.
