And when he negated the partner absolutely, then conditioned it with lineage, he followed it with a threat regarding his claim by torturing the one being followed, which necessitates the torture of the follower. He said: ﴿And whoever says among them﴾ meaning from all whom evidence has been established that he is not suitable for divinity, even the honored servants whom he described their honor and the closeness of their status with Him and praised them as narrated by al-Bayhaqi in the special characteristics from the evidence of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them: (p-410) ﴿Indeed, I am a god﴾. And when the ranks beneath the rank of divinity are many, he divided to indicate who has immersed in the first way. He said: ﴿Other than Him﴾ meaning other than Allah. ﴿So that﴾ [meaning -] the accursed one who is not suitable for closeness at all as long as he is upon that. ﴿We will repay him﴾ [meaning -] with our greatness ﴿Hell﴾ for his injustice. Thus, the torture of the one claiming partnership is understood as the torture of his followers, by way of priority. And this is in the manner of obligation and representation in the angels from the encompassing of His knowledge that it will not be. And this is only for the purpose of emphasizing the severity of the matter of partnership and magnifying the status of monotheism. [And in the evidence of prophethood for al-Bayhaqi in the chapter of speaking of the blessing and special characteristics that this verse along with His saying, ﴿So that Allah may forgive you what has preceded of your sin﴾ [Al-Fath: 2] is evidence of his ﷺ virtue over the people of the heavens -].
And when it was necessary to ask about others from the oppressors, it was said: ﴿Thus﴾ meaning like this very terrible recompense ﴿We will repay the oppressors﴾ all of them as long as they are upon their oppression.
