Commentary
And when the meaning of that is that their joy has no end, He confirmed it by saying: ﴿They will not be saddened﴾ [meaning He will not bring sadness upon them - according to the reading of the majority, until Nafi' with a fathah, from حَزَنَهُ, or making them sad - according to the reading of Abu Ja'far with a dammah then kasrah, from أحْزَنَهُ - which is a quadrilateral, thus it is stronger, for what is negated in it is that it will be a characteristic for them -] (p-487) ﴿The greatest terror﴾ means what is the thought of what is less than it ﴿And they will be met﴾ meaning a reception that is profound in honor ﴿The angels﴾ wherever they turn, saying to them as good tidings: ﴿This is your day﴾ added to them because they are the ones who benefit from it ﴿That which you used to﴾ in this world. [And when the promise in it was agreed upon by the messengers, the books, and the saints from all the followers, He established the action for the object to convey generality and said -]: ﴿You are promised﴾ meaning with the attainment of what you wish for in it of victory and great success, and the everlasting bliss, so rejoice in it with all that pleases you.
