Commentary
And when this story was completed in this greatest manner and the most upright way, it is responsible for indicating the ability regarding what was referred to by the indication of the good news at the beginning of the Surah about the increase of this nation and the turning of the Arabs away from their misguidance after a long period of stubbornness and deviation from the path of guidance. It included consolation with the conditions of the righteous predecessors and emulation, detailed with the proofs of monotheism and resurrection, and other wisdoms, by which it inspires the ambitions towards the heights of virtues. It was as if it was said: Is anything of the stories repeated in this marvelous style and lofty example? It was said: Yes, just like this high narration, in this precious and esteemed composition, regarding the story of Musa and those mentioned with him. We narrate to you, meaning with what we have of the greatness that nothing can overpower; and He indicated to the majesty of His knowledge by saying: from the news of what has preceded from the times and the magnificent beings, an increase in your knowledge, and a glorification of your status, and a consolation for your heart, and a removal of your sorrow, with what has befallen the messengers before you, and an increase in your followers and an increase in your miracles. And so that the listener may take heed and the one who seeks insight in his religion may gain clarity and the proof may be established against those who criticize it: And We have certainly given you from Our greatness as an honor for you and a magnification of your status from Us, meaning from Our esteemed command with its increased specificity with Us and its subtle connection to Our presence, a great and glorious mention that encompasses what We have manifested of Our command in the Torah, and what We have concealed of Our secret in the Gospel, and what We have deposited of Our tranquility in the Psalms, along with what We have specified with it of the subtleties of virtues and the greatness of secrets. It is known by the mere recitation that it is from Us due to what is witnessed for it from the spirit, and it is tasted for it from humility and tranquility, and it is seen for it from majesty in the hearts, with the certainty that no one can oppose it. We have included in that story what we have added to it from the admonitions, rulings, and the subtleties of the indications of the realities, responsible for the happiness of both abodes and the best of the two bests. So whoever turns to it will be reminded of all that he desires from beneficial knowledge.
