87They said, “We did not break our promise to you of our own accord, but we were burdened with loads from the ornaments of the people;so we threw them, and thus did Sāmiriyy cast.”

And when the listener longed for their response, he resumed his mention and said: ﴿They said﴾: [Nothing of that happened.] -

So it was decreed for us to cast it into the fire, and the motives for that were abundant to the extent that we could not restrain ourselves ﴿So we cast it, and thus﴾ meaning: it followed that [that it -] was like that throwing. ﴿The Samaritan cast﴾ and he was one who had joined them from the Egyptians, he cast what was with him, either from wealth or from the trace of the Messenger, as has passed and will come, and it seems that his casting was last.
