And when this necessitated a longing for what happened to the Children of Israel afterwards, Allah, the Most High, said, addressing this desire: 'O Children of Israel,' acknowledging for them that we looked at the previous favors and honored them for the sake of their father.

And when the prevention of evils and the removal of obstacles is before the bringing of benefits and the drawing forth of advantages, He said: 'We have saved you' by our mighty power 'from your enemy,' who was the most insignificant thing to him.

And when you became free to carry out what is required of you in obedience, He said: 'And We appointed for you' all of you - as mentioned in Al-Baqarah regarding the text of the Torah - to stand in Our presence and to take pride in the places of Our mercy 'beside the right side of the Mount,' meaning that which is on your right as you face this direction, in which your faces are directed towards the house of your father, Ibrahim, blessings be upon him, [and it is the side that is adjacent to the sea and the area of Mecca and Yemen].

And when He began with the religious benefit, He followed it with the worldly benefit [saying]: 'And We sent down upon you' after the sending down of this Book in this appointment to revive your souls 'manna and quails' to sustain your bodies. He began with the salvation that enables worship, then followed it with the blessing of the Book that indicates it, then with the sustaining provision, and indicated [the blessing of] the permission in it by His saying:
