Commentary

And when the gathering of their joy, which they were accustomed to, was encompassing these purposes in time and place and other than them, he, peace be upon him, chose it for that reason. So the news about him was resumed in His saying, the Most High: "He said: Your appointed time"; that is, the described "Day of Decoration"; that is, your festival in which you are accustomed to gather in the place you are accustomed to. Here, he preferred mentioning the time, even though it includes the place, due to the habit of gathering, just as he preferred in what preceded mentioning the place to describe it with justice. "And to be gathered" [is built] for the object because the intention is gathering, not being from a specific group. "The people" [is meant as an incitement, even if with dislike] "at dawn" to greet the day from its beginning, so it is more apparent for what they do and clearer. And the night does not come except after the matter has been decided, and the truth-teller is known from the falsifier. And you are at your most gathered and most emptied, so the limit of the falsifiers and their followers becomes weak, and those who are arrogant against the truth and their followers. And the narrator will frequently mention that matter, the known one, in every desert and settled place, and it will spread among all the people of the tents and the soil.
