And when He, glorified and exalted is He, informed about what He created in the earth of benefits that indicate the completeness of His knowledge and the manifestness of His power, in a way that indicates the specificity of the power over resurrection, there were among the philosophers those who believe in reincarnation and others who acknowledge Allah's oneness but do not accept the saying of the people of Islam: 'Indeed, the soul is a subtle body that moves in the body like fire in coal.' Rather, they say: 'It is neither a body nor a force in a body nor a form of a body, nor is it connected to it in the manner of imprinting or indwelling in it, but rather it is a connection of management and action. When it departs from the body, it connects with the spiritual beings of the intellectual world, which is the world of the immaterial, and it becomes part of the ranks of the angels who are close to Allah, or it connects with some celestial bodies, whether a planet or otherwise, just as it connected with the first body, and its attachment to it was severed, so it does not return to it even on the Day of Resurrection according to those among them who speak of resurrection.'
