And when He commanded the purification of the self, He followed it with the informing that among it is the purification of others. This is because that is a greater indication of sincerity and more deserving of salvation. As indicated by the example of the ship that the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, struck for those who enjoin good and those who abandon it. He said, "And command your family to prayer," just as your father Ismail, peace be upon him, did, to lead them to every good. "Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing" [Al-Ankabut: 45].
