Commentary
'Indeed, I am your Lord,' meaning the One who is gracious to you with creation, provision, and other benefits of the two abodes. 'So remove your sandals,' as is done in the presence of kings out of respect, so that you may receive its blessings and be prepared for the stay without being distracted by what is behind you of family and children. For this, the people of expression said: 'The sandal indicates the child.' Then he explained by what guides to the fact that He, glorified and exalted is He, is not contained by a place nor does time pass over Him, saying: 'Indeed, you are in the sacred valley,' meaning the one purified from all that is not fitting for the courts of kings. Then he explained it by saying: 'Tuwa.' And since the meaning is: 'Indeed, I have chosen it as an honor for you from among the lands for your conversation with Me,' he added to it his saying:
