Commentary

And when this verse encompassed the pinnacle of beautiful meanings, it brought glad tidings and facilitated, and it warned and cautioned, and it clarified the hidden matters, and it revealed the secrets, along with its grandeur of composition and excellence of structure, it was as if it was said as a reminder of its greatness: We have sent it down in this noble and exemplary manner. And likewise, meaning in a similar manner, We have sent down this reminder entirely by Our greatness, a Quran that encompasses all the intended meanings, in Arabic, clarifying what has been deposited in it for everyone who has a taste for the styles of the Arabs.

And when most of these verses were warning, He said: And We have varied, meaning by what We have of greatness, in it from the warning, that is, We have mentioned it repeatedly, transforming it in different styles, and various forms that are diverse and differing.

And when He mentioned the warning, He followed it with its fruit, saying: Perhaps they may be conscious, meaning so that the observer of them thereafter may have hope that they will be conscious and be among those who renew their consciousness at all times, by it being a continuous description for them, which is the caution that leads to taking precautions against what is to be feared. Or in the count of those who renew this variation for them as a reminder, meaning what is worthy of being mentioned from the paths of goodness, so it becomes a cause for the fear that leads to consciousness, and it turns them away from some of what the souls call to from deficiencies and misery.
