Commentary
Then he explained to them some of the conditions of that day from its beginning. He said, substituting from "the Day of Resurrection": ﴿The Day the trumpet is blown﴾, meaning by Our greatness - according to the reading of Abu Amr with the noon, constructed for the doer. This indicates the ultimate greatness by the manner of the words of the capable ones in the reading of the remaining ones with the yaa, constructed for the object ﴿in the trumpet﴾. Then the dead will rise from their graves ﴿and We will gather﴾, meaning by Our greatness ﴿the criminals﴾ among them are those who severed what Allah commanded to be connected. He refrained from saying: and We will gather them - to clarify the description that was brought upon them due to their turning away from the reminder. ﴿On that Day﴾, meaning the Day of Resurrection, they will have what was previously mentioned ﴿blue﴾, meaning blue of the eyes and bodies in the form of one who has been struck, and his body has changed, while they are in that state.
