And when what was done to them in the sea was destruction for the men and preservation for the women, he applied what they did to the Children of Israel afterwards to them. He said, "And when" meaning remember when "We parted" from the parting, which is the separation of the one for the wisdom of manifesting the contrast, as said by al-Harali.
