Commentary
And when He informed about their apparent and hidden actions; He informed of their fruits and said: ﴿Those﴾ meaning those described by those apparent attributes. And since it has been included in what has passed that their faith was based on the greatest evidence, it bore for them the holding fast to the strongest bond of actions; they deserved the description of exaltation, which means being firmly established. He said: ﴿upon guidance﴾ meaning: great, and He increased its greatness by saying: ﴿from their Lord﴾ meaning the One who is gracious to them by enabling them to it and their adherence to Him, the One who grants strength over something. And when guidance did not accompany success, He turned to his words, indicating with the conjunction towards an increase in their establishment in each of the two descriptions.
﴿And those﴾ meaning the high-ranking ﴿they are﴾ meaning specifically ﴿the successful﴾ meaning those who are complete in this description, for whom the faces of victory have opened. And the structure indicates the meaning of splitting and opening, as do its sisters from the letters fa and 'ayn, such as falaja with the letter jīm, and falaqa, and faladha, and falā.
The commentator said: And the address in this verse has the nature of addressing the Prophet ﷺ, and the nature of bringing the believers to the place of indication, which is a status of presence lower than the status of the addressed. It has ended. And its being for the distant indicates the high status of them. And success is: victory and attainment of every desire and the attainment of everlasting existence in goodness.
