And when glorified and exalted is He clarified these rulings with this clear explanation, it was as if a questioner said: Does He clarify anything else like it? So He said: ﴿Thus﴾ meaning like this explanation ﴿Allah clarifies﴾ meaning the One who has profound wisdom because He encompasses everything ﴿for you are His signs﴾ meaning the visible ones by which He details for you in His audible signs ﴿so that you may understand﴾ meaning to be in a state hoped for you along with it. The contemplation of the audible signs and the visible signs is as the wise do, and that guides you to the straight path; and indeed, He has repeated such a saying many times, and the verses have been detailed with it in detail. And by my life, it is enough for the discerning one who is free from the disease of the heart and the affliction of desire to mention it once in trusting its content and relying on its meaning. However, He repeated it as a reminder of the eloquence of the verses sealed with it and their surpassing the capacity of humans and the ability of created beings. This is because whenever they heard something of that, and they are the foremost in eloquence and victorious over all masters of fluency and excellence, they saw it as beyond their reach and far from their abilities. It occurred to them to ask about such an explanation, forgetting what had preceded of the truthful promise and the steadfast saying that all is upon this marvelous pattern, the distant example, due to the astonishment that befalls minds and the amazement of hearts and understandings.
