Commentary
And when the news about this category, which is the worst of categories, was completed, I followed it with the best of them so that it would be a conclusion and between them there is a distinction. For the first one is the one who destroys people for the sake of preserving himself, and this one destroys himself for the sake of reforming people. He said: ﴿And among the people are those who﴾ meaning any person or the one who ﴿sells﴾ meaning he does this action whenever it occurs to him, which is that he sells with the utmost desire and enthusiasm ﴿his soul﴾ so he proceeds to destroy it, or he buys it with what would be a cause for its emancipation and revival by striving in the commands of Allah by forbidding this obstinate one from his vile actions and commanding him with piety and reminding him of Allah. It has been narrated that it was revealed about Suhayb, may Allah be pleased with him, because when he migrated, Quraysh wanted to return him, so he offered them his wealth until they let him go. The Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said to him: "The sale has been profitable." Thus, it would mean he bought in the sense of he purchased. Then he explained that by saying: ﴿Seeking﴾ meaning seeking and facilitating and making easy to the utmost extent that can be of all of that ﴿the pleasure of Allah﴾ meaning the pleasure that encompasses all attributes of perfection and the time of pleasure and its place as indicated by the fact that the source is of the mim form, and that would be a goal in its category as indicated by its stopping with the extended ta, for what is known of the intensity of Allah's mercy, glorified and exalted is He. ﴿And Allah is Most Kind﴾ meaning He is full of mercy. (p-178) And the place of the implicit expression shows a sign of generality and of the description that necessitates mercy and honor. He said: ﴿to the servants﴾ all of them, where He bestowed upon them His blessings, both apparent and hidden, despite their disbelief in Him or their shortcomings in His commands. And He clarified for them the path in the utmost clarity, first by reason, secondly by the messengers, thirdly by the laws, and fourthly by the preserved books. And perhaps the distinction between the four categories by the counted days is a concern for their matter, as they are from the acts of Hajj, and their delay from their sisters indicates that they are not from the pillars of the rites, but they are compensated with blood.
