129And, our Lord, raise in their midst a Messenger from among them, who should recite to them Your verses, and teach them the Book and the wisdom, and cleanse them of all impurities. Indeed You, and You alone, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.”

And when he sought what was for him in the position of Prophethood from Allah's teaching to him the rites without an intermediary, he sought for his descendants something similar through whom it was customary for such as them. He said: "Our Lord, and raise up among them" meaning: the Muslim community that is from my descendants and the descendants of my son Ishmael, "a Messenger from them" so that he may be more gentle with them and more compassionate towards them, and they would be more deserving of following him and striving in his support. That Messenger is Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, for he was not sent from their descendants with the Book other than him. So it is the invocation of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, the father of the Arabs and the most honored of his descendants.
