And when the revelation of this weighty saying was sent down, and then its facilitation for preservation and action became a cause for what was made for the people of obedience in this world of affection, by what they possess of adorning themselves with the righteous, and of detaching themselves and protecting themselves from the evils, which indicates what they have with their Lord of great honor and closeness. And the estimation was: And those who disbelieved, surely the Compeller will give them hatred and humiliation. So He informed both of the two groups of what they have, as a glad tidings and a warning. He said, explaining that and making it understood: "Indeed, We have made it easy"; that is, this Qur'an, which mankind and jinn have failed to oppose, and the valuable Book and the revelation that cannot be changed due to Our sending it down "in your tongue"; this clear Arabic, sweet and eloquent, "to give glad tidings by it to the righteous"; and they are those who place a barrier between themselves and what angers Allah, so they do not invalidate the truth nor establish falsehood. And whenever they experience a lapse, they hasten to return from it [with repentance], by what they have with Us of the honor that is the fruit of the honor indicated by what they have of it in this world, not to sadden them by having in it what suggests equating them with the people of disobedience in both abodes. "And to warn by it a people who are stubborn"; they are the most severe in enmity, wanting honor by that, due to what they have with Us of the humiliation and disgrace arising from the hatred caused by the evils of deeds. And We will destroy them if they do not turn back from their stubbornness, and the most stubborn is the one who persists in his misguidance and does not return to evidence, and he engages in defiance of the truth with whatever evil he can. And this can only be from one who despises the one who argues with him and wants to make the truth false, out of arrogance in accepting it. So what is narrated by Muslim in the Book of Faith from his authentic narration, and Abu Dawood in the Book of Clothing from his Sunnah, and Al-Tirmidhi in the Book of Goodness from his compilation, and Ibn Majah in the Book of Sunnah from his Sunnah from Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "No one will enter Paradise with an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart." A man said: "Indeed, a man loves to have his clothes nice and his sandals nice." He said: "Indeed, Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and belittling people." And both meanings refer to contempt. And whoever has this as his way has trained himself on that and has returned to it, so he is deserving that Allah will make him ride the abomination of the abominations: disbelief at death, so Paradise is forbidden for him. For indeed, whoever grazes around the sanctuary is about to fall into it. "I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant in the earth without right" [Al-A'raf: 146] - the verse. So woe to the one who is arrogant against the truth! And how honorable is the one who is honored by humility for the truth and honor over falsehood! And by my life, indeed Allah has established His custom - and you will not find for the Sunnah of Allah any alteration. Indeed, whoever has accustomed himself to audacity with falsehood will be humiliated in the truth, and to Him refers His saying, glorified and exalted is He, in describing His beloved ones: "Humble towards the believers, mighty against the disbelievers" [Al-Ma'idah: 54].
