Commentary
'And We will inherit him' by his death from all of that; then He replaced his pronoun with His saying: 'What he says' meaning of wealth and children, so We will place a barrier between him and them after the resurrection, as We did with death, like the barrier of the heir between the inherited and that which is inherited from him. 'And he will come to Us' on the Day of Resurrection 'alone,' a poor person isolated from everything, having no power over wealth or children, so he has no honor and no strength in either of them. Al-Bukhari narrated in the tafsir from Khabbab, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: I was a blacksmith in Mecca and I made a sword for Al-As ibn Wa'il Al-Sahmi. I came to demand my payment from him, and he said: I will not give you until you disbelieve in Muhammad. I said: I will not disbelieve in Muhammad until Allah causes you to die and then brings you back to life. In another narration: until you die and then are resurrected. He said: And I will certainly be resurrected after death? I said: Yes! He said: Then leave me until I die and then I will be resurrected, and I will then have wealth and children, and I will pay you. Then this verse was revealed: 'Have you seen the one who...' [Maryam: 77] - up to His saying: 'alone.'
