And when what he claimed had no knowledge for him of it except by one of two matters, of which he had no knowledge of one of them, he denied his saying by saying: ﴿Has he knowledge of the unseen﴾ which is hidden from every created being. So, it is in its distance from creation like the lofty one, from which no one among them can gain access to it. And the One, the Subduer, is unique in it. ﴿Or has he taken﴾ meaning with all his effort ﴿with the Most Merciful﴾ the general mercy by bestowing upon the obedient and taking vengeance upon the disobedient as a reward for the obedient ﴿a covenant﴾ which he made with Him that He would give him what he mentioned for an obedience he performed for Him in its proper manner, so that he may stand, glorified is He, at His saying.
