Commentary
And when the Most High informed about them with disappointment, He opened for them the door of repentance. He urged them to wash away this disgrace with His saying: "Except for the one who repents," meaning from what he is upon of misguidance, by preferring the lowly deeds over the attributes of perfection. So he maintained the prayer and restrained himself from desires. And he believed in what the covenant was taken upon him. And he acted after his belief as a confirmation of it, with righteous deeds from prayers, zakat, and others. And he did not emphasize them because repentance implies the manifestation of the act of prayer, which is the mother of all acts of worship. So those are the high-minded, the pure in character, they will enter the Paradise that has been promised to the pious, and they will not be wronged by an oppressor in anything of their deeds.
