Commentary
And when the revelation of these exalted news, of great significance, and of magnificent secrets came to an end, He, glorified and exalted is He, began to attribute their people to their noblest lineage. He mentioned their most honored cause, shaking (p-220) for whoever shares with them in lineage to share in the cause. He said: ﴿Those﴾ meaning the high-ranking, noble lineage ﴿whom Allah has bestowed﴾ with what He has of the attributes of perfection by which He established Adam, peace be upon him, while they were in his back, along with what He had instilled in him of opposing matters until He saved him from the deceit of Iblis. He saved Noah, peace be upon him, while they were in his loins from that great distress, and Abraham, peace be upon him, while they were in his strength amidst the blazing fire and the extinguishing of the teeth and the breaking of the bones. He elevated Israel, peace be upon him, and his sons in the whip of separation and the humiliation of servitude and the violation of accusation until his sons became the source of kings and prophets, and the place of the righteous and the pure. To other than that from the great prophets and the immense selection and choosing ﴿upon them﴾ with what He has specifically granted them of increased closeness to Him, and great status with Him. And He clarified the connected by saying: ﴿of the prophets﴾ meaning those chosen for prophethood whom Allah informed of the subtleties of wisdom, and raised their status among the nations, and informed the people of the great words, and commanded them with pure traits.
And when they were some of the children of Adam, of whom we had previously stated that we honored them, He said, indicating what is in that of the blessing upon them while they see it: ﴿of the descendants of Adam﴾ our chosen one, the father of mankind, whom Allah created from dust by His hand, and to whom He commanded His angels to prostrate. And Idris is the most deserving of that.
And when there was in the salvation of Noah, peace be upon him, and the drowning of his people from the manifest power that is not hidden, He indicated it with the letter of greatness in His saying, pointing to the greatest blessing upon them by partiality. He indicated that their Prophet is from his descendants, just as he was from the descendants of Idris, peace be upon him, who is from the descendants of Adam. Just as each of them was a Messenger, so too was he, and Ibrahim is closest to that: ﴿And among those whom We carried with Noah﴾, our chosen one, the first Messenger we sent after the separation of the people of the earth and their associating partners, from the pure servants and the people of guidance. We made him grateful, and Ibrahim is closest to that. ﴿And from the descendants of Ibrahim﴾, our friend, who had in the annihilation of idols what he was known for among the servants of his virtue. Ismail and Ishaq are foremost in that, then Yaqub ﴿and Israel﴾, our chosen one. They are the remaining ones: Musa, Harun, Zakariya, Yahya, and Isa, son of Maryam, daughter of Dawud - upon all of them be the best prayers and peace. [Just as these were Messengers and they are from the descendants of Ibrahim, who is from the descendants of Noah, so too is your Prophet, who is from the descendants of Ismail, who is from Ibrahim by his lineage, and he is the first of his children, just as Israel is from his descendants. Therefore, sending from the descendants of one who is his son by his lineage is more deserving than sending from the descendants of one who has an intermediary between him and them. Otherwise, the children of Israel would be more noble than you, and their father would be more noble than your father. So do not reject honor, O you who compete in boasting and leadership -] ﴿And among those whom We guided﴾ to the most upright of paths ﴿and We chose﴾, meaning We acted with them as one who chooses and selects something, by bestowing upon them from the blessings that are beyond description; and He connected the attributes with the conjunction 'and' as an indication of their establishment in it.
And when he mentioned what He bestowed upon them, he mentioned what resulted from that and said [beginning anew] ﴿When the verses of the Most Merciful are recited to them﴾, the general blessing. So how will it be for them when they are elevated [by a majesty or specially favored by a mercy] from the great blessings, from the abundance of generosity and kindness? [So they heard the specifics of this Qur'an -] ﴿They fell down in prostration﴾ to the One who bestowed upon them, drawing closer to Him, for what they have of enlightening insights in remembering His blessings upon them and His kindness towards them ﴿and weeping﴾ out of fear of Him and longing for Him. So he described them with the swiftness of humility from the mention of Allah, which arises from the continuity of submission, and from it the hastening to prostration in the state of weeping. He made them two states by conjunction with 'and' due to the connection of the one adorned with both in each of them individually. He expressed with the noun in each of prostration and weeping, indicating that their fear is constant just as their humility is constant for the greatness of the Majestic Great One, because that presence does not ever disappear from them at all. And if something other than weeping occurs, it is for the comfort of those who were sent to them to convey it to someone close to their rank with good companionship despite the differences in ranks and the variation in demands. He omitted the mention of the chins due to its indication (p-223) - as previously mentioned in Subhan - of a type of astonishment. For it - even if it elevated its possessor above one who did not reach it - is a state below the rank of the firmly rooted in the presence of majesty. Because they - while being in the pinnacle of the state of fear - are in the highest degrees of perfection from the presence of thought and the expansion of the chest - to receive the incoming truths and convey them to the creation. Look at the steadfastness of the Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him - for his elevated rank above others - at the death of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, even though he had fulfilled them with a drink of love, and provided them with a source, and was the most filled with sorrow, and the most burdened with grief and worry, until he was afflicted by the disease of tuberculosis due to that, until he died from it in longing and regret. [And from here you know the secret in sending the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, the Anbajaniyyah, which distracted in prayer with its signs to Abu Jahm, for he, may Allah be pleased with him, was perhaps among those who gathered in prayer and did not see anyone else, glorified is He, as a distraction from all that perishes, unlike the Prophet, for he, due to his perfection, is established in each of the states of gathering and separation in every situation. And for this, he sees those behind him in prayer and their humility does not escape him -].
