Commentary
And We granted him a gift that befits Our greatness from Our mercy to him when he asked us. His brother, meaning the support of his brother, is clarified by his saying: "Harun," while he was a prophet. Or it is a substitution, meaning his prophethood strengthened him, and We supported his matter with it. He would succeed him among his people when he went to the place of conversation. Yet, despite that, they associated with Me the image of a calf. So do not be amazed by their deception towards the Arabs while they were directly involved with these great matters.
