‘Reminder’ means this which I recite to you is a reminder of ‘the mercy of your Lord’ [meaning] the One who is good to you by supporting you in revealing the mysteries and making the hidden apparent. ‘His servant’ is in the accusative case due to ‘mercy,’ because it is a noun built upon the ‘taa,’ not because it indicates oneness. ‘Zakariya’ [meaning] the son of Mathan, as a reward for his monotheism and his good deeds which hope for the meeting with his Lord. And the mercy from Him, glorified and exalted is He, is assistance, response, and guidance to what is desired, and similar to that from the fruits of the mercy attributed to the servants.
