'And virtuous' means having wide morals and being good to his parents. 'And he was not' by nature or disposition 'a tyrant' towards them or towards others. Then he restricted it by saying: 'disobedient,' indicating that he acts in the manner of tyrants with harshness, killing, and oppression against those who deserve that, as Allah, the Exalted, said to the Seal of the Prophets, blessings and peace be upon him: 'Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh with them' [At-Tawbah: 73]. So he was obedient to Allah, fulfilling His rights and the rights of His servants as it should be. So, blessed is he for what He has given him of these essential qualities of perfection. The expression in the form of exaggeration indicates that the denial is strong against it, and that which is less than it is removed by Allah through the washing of the heart or otherwise.
