And when what they asked about was concluded in the best manner, in the most eloquent context and the most exquisite coherence, and He included within it what He included of reminders and admonitions, commands and prohibitions, promises and threats, encouragement and deterrence, and reproach for those who conceal the knowledge they possess, deviating from what has become clear to them of the broad path and the clear methodology of the Able and Wise Creator, who is not overcome by weariness so as to hasten, nor is He hindered by anything so as to delay. He concluded it with what is great knowledge of the Hour, mentioning what will occur at that time and what will happen after it, until each of the two groups reaches their abode and place of stability. And when that was a significant matter, He indicated it with the letter 'noon' and said, adding to what you estimate: 'The matter of Dhul-Qarnayn has become clear in every way,' and he was truthful in his saying: 'So when the promise of my Lord comes' [Al-Kahf: 98]. For when our promise comes, we will make it with our power, which we will grant to Gog and Magog, so we will bring them out upon the people after the emergence of the Dajjal: 'And We left some of them' meaning some of those behind the barrier and those in front of it, 'on that Day' meaning when We make the barrier level and they emerge, their vanguard in the Levant and their rear in Khurasan, and they are - as Allah, glorified and exalted is He, said - 'from every height they will surge' [Al-Anbiya: 96]. 'They will surge' meaning they will clash 'with one another' just as the sea surges. They will destroy whatever they pass by except what Allah wills. Then He will annihilate them, He who created them, and close to that, He will destroy all of creation. 'And the trumpet will be blown' meaning the second blowing, for His saying: 'So We gathered them' and it is permissible that this 'fa' (and) is the clear one, and the intended meaning is the first blowing, or 'and the trumpet was blown' - and all of creation died, their bodies decayed, and their bones disintegrated, just as those who preceded them. Then the second blowing was blown, and We gathered them from the dust after their disintegration in it, and their scattering in the corners of the earth by the floods and winds and other than that. 'Gathering' so We established them in one instant like the blink of an eye, and We gathered them to the standing place for reckoning, then for punishment or reward.
