Commentary
He said: As for the one who wronged by continuing in disbelief, then We will be gentle with him until we despair of him. Then we will kill him. To this he referred by saying: "So We will punish him" with a promise that there is no failure in it after a long period of calling and gentleness. Then he will be returned after life by death, or after the barrier by resurrection, a return that is in the utmost ease to his Lord, who is unique in His nurturing. Then He will punish him with a severe punishment that he has never experienced like it for his disbelief in His blessings and his offering of goodness in the worship of others. In this there is a reference to a severe threat to the deceiving Jews towards Quraysh, and guidance for Quraysh to ask them about this saying, so that it may lead them to acknowledge the resurrection.
