And when the situation was very difficult due to the commands of Allah, glorified and exalted is He, He clarified it in a manner more eloquent than the negation of the specific, which is profound patience, expressing amazement at the absolute patience. He excused Musa for his denial and himself for the action, by stating that this is in relation to the apparent and the hidden. So he said, adding to what he intends: 'How can you follow me with profound following: ﴿And how can you be patient﴾, O Musa, ﴿with that of which you have no knowledge?﴾ meaning in terms of knowledge of it, both apparent and hidden. He indicated by the mention of knowledge that it was possible for it to be correct, but this possibility does not exempt him from the obligation of the matter. It is possible that this is an explanation for what preceded it, so the second patience is the first. The meaning is that you cannot have the patience that I want from you, because you do not know my action as it is, so you see it as corrupt.
