Commentary
So when they passed by that place from the gathering, Moses and his servant, peace be upon them, became tired. He did not become tired until he passed the place that he was commanded to, as another miracle. When he became hungry and tired, he said to his servant, 'Bring us our meal,' meaning 'bring us our food so that we may gain strength from it against what has befallen us of exhaustion.' Therefore, he reached with his words the saying of Allah, the Most High: 'Certainly we have encountered weariness from our journey,' meaning the journey that we traveled on this day specifically. Therefore, he indicated it with a tool of proximity and said, 'This is a hardship.' The fish was their provision, but it was not with him. It was as if it was said: 'What happened regarding his command?' It was said:
