And when he mentioned the origin and alerted to its removal, and concluded that the intended purpose of it is the testing for elevation by reward or degradation by punishment, and that disgrace and humiliation are the greatest things that noble souls fear, especially when the gathering is great and the matter intensifies. So how if poverty is added to it, and how if imprisonment accompanies them? And the Day of Gathering is a day in which all creatures are gathered. It is truly the witnessed reality, and greatness appears in it; it is alone the one to be feared. He followed the mention of recompense with its mention, for it is the greatest day in which it appears. So Allah, the Exalted, said, connecting to 'And strike' [Al-Kahf: 45], 'And the Day' meaning, and remind them of the Day 'We will move the mountains' from the face of the earth with the storms of power, just as the vegetation of the earth moves—after it has become dry—by the winds. 'So we did not leave' meaning we do not abandon with what we have of greatness 'from them' meaning the former and the latter 'anyone' for there is no oblivion nor incapacity.
