Commentary
And when the predominant trait of man is to oppose the commands, due to what he is created with of deficiencies, the warning becomes more important. Therefore, it was repeated for that reason and because the context for it is as previously mentioned, recalling in it some of the omitted related matters from the verse that preceded it, reproaching the misleading Jews towards these Arabs and those who said with their statement. So Allah, the Most High, said: ﴿And to warn﴾ (p-8). Here, it is limited to the first object so that the thought goes to the second, which was expressed by what is likely to be estimated [by it] in what has passed with ﴿From Him﴾ [Al-Kahf: 2] - every sect, and it would be more severe ﴿Those who said, 'Allah has taken a son'﴾ meaning that the One of Majesty, which cannot be compared to anything, is claimed to have taken ﴿a son﴾, and they are some of the Jews, Christians, and Arabs. Al-Usbahani said: And the habit of the Qur'an is that when it mentions a comprehensive story, it follows it with some of its particulars to indicate that this is for some of the greatest particulars of that whole. And I did not make the verse from the intertwining due to the lack of meaning.
