Commentary
Then they resumed on the path of specification, which indicates that from the time of their worship until now, they have not brought forth any evidence for that. They said, highlighting the corruption of imitation in the fundamentals of religion and that there is no convincing proof in it without certainty: "Why do they not come now?" And when they had made their worship a place for themselves like that of scholars, Allah, the Most High, said: "Upon them," meaning upon their worship of Him. They confirmed what they intended by their saying: "With a clear authority," meaning a compelling proof, "evident," like what we bring regarding the uniqueness of our deity with clear evidence and brilliant proofs. For indeed, such a matter cannot be satisfied without that. We have gathered all the evidence in the argument for the uniqueness of Allah in deserving worship, as He is unique in creating existence. Their inability to provide evidence has caused them to be the most unjust of the unjust for fabricating lies about the King of kings and the Owner of sovereignty. Therefore, they said: "So who is more unjust than one who fabricates against Allah, the Greatest King, a lie?" The verse indicates the corruption of imitation in monotheism.
