Commentary
﴿They will remain in it﴾ after their entering. ﴿They do not desire﴾ meaning they do not want the slightest desire for a change from it, because there is no more beyond it. This is to dispel what may be imagined, that the matter is as it is in this world, where everyone in any bliss desires what is higher than it, because prolonged residence may lead to boredom. Rather, they are in the utmost satisfaction with it, due to the types of pleasures in it that have no limit or end. No one among them desires anything other than what they have, whether they are in Paradise or in what is below it. This is an indication regarding the disbelievers, as they cry out in the Fire, ﴿Our Lord, take us out of it﴾ [Al-Mu'minun: 107]. This is the opposite of what was in this world, where the disbelievers leaned towards it and loved prolonged residence in it, while the believers turned away from it and longed for their Lord by separating from it.
