And when the Qur'an, which He mentioned in the verse "Establish the prayer," is the greatest cause for the vanquishing of falsehood, which is like magic, an illusion and deception; and it is the gathering of all that has passed from the divine matters, and resurrection, and what follows that. He said, adding to "And We have honored": ﴿And We send down﴾; meaning: by Our greatness; then He clarified what is sent down by His saying (glorified and exalted is He): ﴿From the Qur'an﴾; meaning: the gathering, the differentiating, which is the most rightful of the truth; ﴿It is a healing﴾; for the hearts and the bodies; ﴿And a mercy﴾; meaning: honor and strength; ﴿For the believers﴾; meaning: those firmly rooted in faith; to illuminate their hearts from the rust of ignorance; and to guide them on the path of righteousness, which is the cause of mercy; and to protect them from every devil, disease, and trial; if the truth is established in seeking healing through it; all of it is like that; and so are all its parts. Al-Razi said in the Lawa'ih: It is the comfort of the lovers and the solace of the yearning; and indeed it is the clear light, which whoever (p-498) gains insight through it, the truths that were hidden become revealed to him; and the calamities that were exposed to him become concealed; just as falsehood is a disease and a punishment for the disbelievers; and it is one of the most astonishing wonders that this healing "does not increase the wrongdoers"; meaning: those firmly rooted in this description; and they are those who place things in the wrong place by turning away from what should be accepted; ﴿Except for loss﴾; meaning: deficiency; because when it comes to them, and the proof is established against them, they turn away from it; thus their turning away is an increase in their disbelief; just as the acceptance of the believers of it, and their eagerness to contemplate it, is an increase in their faith; and in Al-Darimi from Qatadah, he said: "No one sat with the Qur'an and then stood up from it except with an increase or a decrease"; then he recited this verse.
