And when he informed him of that, he made it known to him that it is His way with all the messengers. So He said (glorified and exalted is He): "Sunnah"; meaning: "like the Sunnah of"; or our Sunnah with you is the Sunnah of "those whom We have sent"; meaning: by what We have of greatness.

And when the sending has encompassed its blessings with this greatness in all times, by what He has surrounded it with from the sound nature, He removed the exception. So He said (glorified and exalted is He): "before you"; meaning: in all the past times; "from Our messengers"; by making their existence among their people a mercy for their people. So if they expel them, We hasten against whoever is pleased with their expulsion with punishment. "And you will not find for Our Sunnah"; meaning: for what it has of greatness; "any change"; meaning: by a changer other than Us changing it. However, they were distinguished from the previous nations by not being punished with the punishment of annihilation, in honor of them with this noble prophet.
