Commentary
And when He established - glorified and exalted is He - His power over preference in the physical life; and the spiritual life; and the preference between things in both aspects; thus His power over resurrection was confirmed; and He concluded that with the preference of mankind; and the Day of Judgment was the greatest day in which preference appears; He replaced His saying: "The day He will call you" - warning of His might on that day; and encouraging the acquisition of virtues on this day - with His saying (the Most High): "The day We will call"; meaning: with that greatness; "every people"; meaning: from among you; "with their leader"; meaning: with their guide whom they used to follow; it will be said: O followers of Noah; O followers of Abraham; O followers of Jesus; O followers of Muhammad; and they will rise; and a distinction will be made between their rightful ones; and their false ones; and it will be said: O followers of desires; O followers of the Fire; O followers of the Sun; O followers of idols; and similar to this; or it may be intended due to their deeds which we have linked them with the link of the one being led with his leader; as He (the Most High) said: "And every human We have bound his fate to his neck" [Al-Isra: 13]; and He called it a leader because they were committed to it; and they strived towards it; and we will deliver to them the books that recorded (p-478) their deeds; "So whoever is given"; from them; from the giver what; "his book in his right hand"; then they are the insightful of hearts; due to their piety and their goodness; and they are the insightful in this world; and whoever was insightful in this world; he is more insightful in the Hereafter; and on a more guided path; "So those"; meaning: the high in ranks; "will read their book"; meaning: they will renew its reading; and repeat it; rejoicing in what is in it; as is the habit of everyone who is pleased with a book; "and they will not be wronged"; by a decrease of a good deed; from any oppressor; "even to the extent of a thread"; meaning: something that is extremely small and insignificant; rather they will be increased according to the sincerity of intentions; and the purity of morals; and the goodness of deeds; and whoever is given his book in his left hand, he will not read his book; because he is blind in this abode;.
