Commentary
And when he informed about his noble self with what indicates the expansion for whoever he wants from the people of falsehood; he informed that he decreed that in eternity; as a favor; so He said (the Most High): ﴿Indeed, We give﴾; meaning: from both groups; the one wanting this world; and the one wanting the Hereafter; ﴿We extend﴾; meaning: with provision; then He replaced from 'Indeed, We give'; His saying (the Most High): ﴿These﴾; meaning: those who sought the world; We extend; ﴿and these﴾; those who sought the Hereafter, We extend; ﴿from the provision of your Lord﴾; meaning: the One who is gracious to him with all His decrees; if He constricts for a believer, it is with protection from the fleeting world; which is merely amusement and play; and if He expands, it is with usage in it according to what pleases Him; and raises His word; ﴿And the provision of your Lord﴾; meaning: the One who brought you into existence; the One who manages your affairs; ﴿is not prohibited﴾; meaning: forbidden in this world for a believer; nor for a disbeliever; rather it is filled with the plains and the mountains; with gold; and silver; and iron; and copper; and jewels; and fruits; and the sustenance of people; and livestock; and other than that which only Allah can enumerate; even if all the people gathered to collect it night and day; and they had no occupation other than that; it would overwhelm them; and they would not be able to do it; so glorified is the Generous; the Vast; the Giver; the Withholder;.
