Commentary

And when he mentioned - glorified is He - what his words have regarding the call to the most upright; he followed it with what is upon man from deviation; the one who calls him to abandon adherence to His upright laws; and to proceed towards what has no benefit in it; as a warning about what he must do of being deliberate; to consider what he calls himself to; and to weigh it by the standard of the Shari'ah; so He said (the Exalted): ﴿And he calls﴾; the omission of its waw - which is the lam of the verb - is an error in all the copies of the Qur'an; and there is no reason for its omission in wording in Arabic - indicating that he calls for evil; due to his foolishness; and lack of reason; and he does not intend the elevation of evil over him - by what is indicated by the omission of what its meaning is among the people of Allah, the exalted and elevated; and that the end of his action is destruction; until Allah intervenes for him; and I have mentioned the ruling of stopping at it; and at its like in the Surah of 'Al-Qamar'; ﴿Man﴾; meaning: at the time of anger; and the like; upon himself and upon those he loves; due to his familiarity with himself; and forgetting what rectifies him; ﴿With evil﴾; meaning: he calls upon his Lord and implores Him due to the infliction of evil upon him; ﴿His supplication﴾; meaning: like his supplication ﴿With good﴾; meaning: with the attainment of good for him; and for those he loves; then he alerted to the nature which is the source of that; so He said (the Exalted): ﴿And man was﴾; meaning: this type; due to his lack of contemplation; for being preoccupied with looking at his desires; and being familiar with himself; as he is created upon this; ﴿Impatient﴾; meaning: excessive in haste; he rushes to seek everything that occurs in (p-384) his heart; and comes to his mind; without being deliberate in it with the deliberation of the one who is discerning and does not want to place anything except in its most complete position; and for this reason he hastens punishment for himself in mockery; and for others in seeking healing; and haste is: seeking something at a time that is not permissible to advance upon; and as for speed, it is his action at its earliest time which is more appropriate for it.
