And when that was perhaps misleading in its glorification, he negated that by saying - in response to one who seemed to say: Does he have authority? -: "Indeed, he has no authority"; meaning: to the extent that the one who is dominated cannot detach himself from it; "over those who have believed"; by the success of their Lord for them; "and upon their Lord"; meaning: alone; "they place their trust"; and it is permissible that the meaning is that when it has been established in minds that there is no escape from the devil; because he has been given authority over us in that he sees us from where we do not see him; and he flows in us like blood; and the benefit of seeking refuge is protection; it has been indicated that it occurs; by his saying - as a means of explanation -: "Indeed, he"; meaning: seek refuge with Allah, He will protect you from him; because he has no authority over those who have believed in Allah; to turn them all away from what pleases Allah; and upon their Lord alone they place their trust;
