Commentary
And they cast; that is: the partners; to Allah; that is: the Most High King; on that Day; that is: the Day of Resurrection; when We will raise from every nation a witness; submission; that is: obedience; and surrender; by which the disbelievers knew that they are among the servants; having no authority at all; so their rebellion was extinguished; and their intention failed; and it was restricted on that day because they were in this world - by the beautification of the devils for their affairs; and their speaking on their tongues - in such a way that their worshippers think that they have protection; and with them is strength; and it may be that the pronoun in 'they cast' refers to the polytheists; and it misled them; that is: the disbelievers; what they were; that is: by their natures; they fabricate; that is: they deliberately claim; of the benefit for them; and harm; falsely and wickedly.
