Commentary
So when this clarification became clearer than sight, it might have occurred to the imagination that if they did not respond, the caller would be burdened due to their turning away. So Allah, the Most High, said - negating that; turning away from them as one who is angry; turning towards him - blessings and peace be upon him - as one who consoles; expressing with the form of 'tafa'ul'; indicating that the original natures are calling towards turning to Allah; so the one who possesses it does not turn away from what pleases Him - glorified and exalted is He - except by a type of treatment: 'So if they turn away'; meaning: they have made themselves responsible for turning away and following their desires; so there is no shortcoming upon you because of their turning away; nor any burden; 'For indeed'; meaning: because indeed 'upon you is the clear conveying'; and it is not upon you to turn them away from obstinacy.
