Commentary
And when this is necessitated by denying the blessing; and it is the nature of the wise and insightful person - as they claim for themselves - to not be heedless of anything that is a requisite of what they engage in; He said: ﴿Let them disbelieve﴾; meaning: they cause the covering over the evidences of monotheism; which their innate intellects have indicated to them; ﴿of what We have given them﴾; meaning: of the blessing; a reminder that they only engaged in that polytheism for this purpose; to place themselves in the position of the wise and insightful; who claim that they are the best of them; and to elevate themselves above the state of those who engage in what they do not know the outcome of; and there is no greater disgrace than this; because it results in madness being better than an intellect that leads to this outcome; so it is a form of mockery; ﴿So enjoy yourselves﴾; meaning: this leads to this group being approached by a knowledgeable one capable of it; saying: Enjoy yourselves; ﴿But soon﴾; meaning: for your enjoyment in this state is a cause for it to be said to you - as a threat -: Soon ﴿you will know﴾; after your enjoyment; for it is the approach of anger; and the threat of a bad outcome; and omitting the one being threatened is more impactful; and more terrifying for the soul's departure in specifying every doctrine.
