Commentary
'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' And when the method of absence from the present indicates falling behind the veil of arrogance; which signals the severity of the punishment; and the swiftness of retribution; and the distance of the station; he returned to it; and said (glorified and exalted is He): ﴿And to Him﴾; thus, he returned the pronoun to Allah; the proper name; encompassing all of the most beautiful names; ﴿What is in the heavens﴾; and when the matter had been confirmed and established; and the intended meaning of it had appeared to the utmost clarity; there was no need to emphasize it by repeating the negation; so He said (glorified and exalted is He): ﴿And the earth﴾; meaning: from what you worship; and others; so how can it be imagined that anything from that could be a god; when it is His possession; while being in need of time; and place; and others; ﴿And to Him belongs the religion﴾; meaning: submission; and humility from all that is in them; and whoever is in them; willingly; and unwillingly; by the enforcement of decree and destiny; in health; and sickness; in wealth; and poverty; in life; and death; in existence; and non-existence; in humiliation; and honor; in acceptance; and rejection - as previously explained -; and to Him belongs the accountability with recompense; ﴿Constantly﴾; meaning: always; firmly; generally; not like the kings whose dominions cease with their specificity; and the objects of worship whose worship ceases at a time from the times; (p-179) thus they become worthless after having been profitable; even if the duration is long; with their specificity to people without others; and no day passes for a king other than him without the occurrence of matters contrary to his desire; even if his authority is great; and his status is high; and his supporters are many; so how can one who has the slightest insight imagine that another could be a god; and it has preceded in: ﴿Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path﴾ [Hud: 56]; in 'Hud'; what is beneficial to recall here. And when this evidence was established for this attribute; and it was from the concepts of religion that recompense is considered; looking at the actions that occur from what harms; it resulted in severe denial against whoever turns with any of his actions to others; after knowing that it is everlasting and does not cease; and that everything besides it is transient; so he said - expressing with piety; which is the result of fear -: ﴿So other than Allah﴾; meaning: the One who has all greatness; ﴿Do you fear?﴾.
